System Check
Built into The Classified Ad System 2.0 is an option to check and make sure everything is configured properly. This option can be found in the admin menu. |
AJAX Search
This allows users to type in their search request. As they type in their criteria, results are instantly returned.

Ad Preview
As users are navigating the site, they get a preview of the ad, even before clicking on the listing. |
Javascript Menu
The system has a javascript menu that is dynamically updated with all the categories and additional options. This menu bar allows users to easily control their experience. The location of the menu bar can be changed by editing the CSS file. |
Photo Resizing
The system can be configured to use ASP.NET to resize photo's. If ASP.NET is not available, simply turn this feature off. |
Category Images
The administrator has the option to upload images for each category. This can help users quickly identify the category they are searching for. |
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
The Classified Ad System 2.0 was designed using CSS. This allows you to quickly change the look of the text on the site. |
Payment Systems
Charge users to post an ad. Currently support gateways are 2checkout.com and PayPal. Free integration is available for other payment gateways, contact us for details. |
Approval Needed
Admin approval is needed before the user's ad is set live. The user has the option to pay for the ad (if enabled), edit the ad, and remove the ad, but it will not be seen until it has been approved. |
Photo Uploading
No objects are required to upload photos. The uploading program is simply ASP script. Please note that permissions need to be set to read/write for the uploadedimages directory. |
Database Options
Supported databases include, MSSQL and Access. We are currently working on MySQL support. Generally Access is a great solution for most website. MSSQL Server is only needed in a high volume website |
Email Options
The system will automatically determine which COM object to use for email. By default, CDO is the first object to be tested. Email settings are configured in the admin menu. |
Expire Ads
Ads can expire after a certain amount of time. Users can renew their ads. The Administrator can control how many times the user can renew their ad. |
Expandable
The system can be expanded by custom programming and updates. Version updates are free (ie 2.1 to 2.2), version changes are available for a reduced price (ie version 2.0 to 3.0) |
Unlimited Categories
Administrators have the ability to make nested categories to an unlimited depth. Obviously you would not want to do this, but it is possible. |
Banned Word Filter
Administrators have the ability to setup partial and full matches of banned words. All banned words are shown in one list for easy maintenance. |

Total Account Management
Users have the ability to create, edit, and manage their listings.

Smart Return Paths
When a user is required to log onto system, the user is prompted for their login information. Once they log in, they are taken to their original destination. |
Picture Uploading
Users can upload up to 5 pictures for each listing. |
Preview Ads
Users can preview an ad before even clicking on it. |
Category Counts
If enabled, users can see how many ads are in each category before clicking on that category. |
View Ads
Probably the most important feature, users are able to navigate the categories and then view the ads of their choice. Viewing ads are free to users. |
Listing Counts
Users will be able to see how many users have viewed their ads. A view counts as someone viewing the detail of the ad. |
Change Ad Status
Users can change the status of their ads between active to not active. Changing the status of an ad does not effect the payment or approval status. |
Change Ad Category
Users can change the category that their ad is listed in. |
Payment
Users can pay for their ads (if set to paid ads) and have them automatically set live after the payment is received. |
